PEEK gives a high tensile strength and thermal resistance compared to PTFE (Teflon) which provides low friction but low strength. PEEK is more resistant to abrasion and dimensional stability than Nylon, required and is more difficult to machine. PEEK is favoured when hard performance is required and other plastics will break down.

Applications of PEEK Precision Balls

Medical Devices

PEEK Balls are used in surgical equipment, medical equipment, tests, and diagnostics of the human body, as implantable pumps or medical valves, and provide biocompatibility and durability with minimal risks of metal contamination. Best in components that are subjected to high temperature sterilization.

5mm or 8mm diameter PEEK balls (suitable as precision medical bearings or valve stems).

Use FDA approved PEEK balls where gamma radiation sterilization is necessary to provide chemical and high temperature resistance (to 260 C).

Avoid UV-exposed environments due to limited UV resistance.

Used as rolling elements in components of high stress, high-temperature operation, e.g. aircraft engines or satellite systems. Fits well precision instruments with high mechanical strength and light weight.

Suggested Model: 10mm or 12mm diameter PEEK balls (best used in high-load bearings).

Recommendations: In weight sensitive applications, should be used to replace metal balls in order to lower the final weight. Test temperatures under heavy loads because strength can be slightly reduced with high temperatures.

Chemical Processing
