PEEK Fittings | Peek Hplc Fittings

PEEK fittings are simple to use, can be hand tightened without tools, and can often be removed repeatedly without compromising their seal.
PEEK materials are biocompatible and have excellent chemical resistance for long term use at elevated temperatures and high pressures up to 250 degrees Celsius. Because of their excellent chemical and physical properties, PEEK fittings are often considered the best economic choice for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) columns, genetic testing, advanced bioanalysis, analytical chemistry, industrial microbiology, clinical and diagnostic, filtration, materials science, protein biology, laboratory analytical instrumentation, and other analytical instrumentation.

  • With the addition of a stainless steel compression sleeve, the hard pipe does not rotate during the screwing of the inverted taper pressure plug, effectively eliminating line twisting.

Attention

Straight-threaded standard fittings are tool-less and economical. Only need to put the inverted cone pressure plug and pressure ring on the pipe and screw into the interface to use; need to match the ETFE inverted cone pressure ring to use.

  • How to use？
  1. Use a professional pipe cutter to cut the hard pipe port flat.
  2. Sleeve the PEEK inverted taper pressure plug and ETFE pressure ring in turn, manually adjust the bottom of the pressure ring to make it flush with the end of the hard pipe, and make the tapered end of the pressure ring coincide with the threaded port of the inverted taper pressure plug.
  3. Manually screw the inverted cone pressure plug to tighten the pressure ring, so that the pipeline to produce micro-deformation to achieve the sealing effect

  • Application Pressure
  1. PEEK fittings have a maximum pressure rating of 5000-7000 psi (350-500 bar) depending on the type (e.g. fingertight or hex-head).
  2. In high-pressure systems such as HPLC, select fittings that meet a minimum pressure of one that exceeds the maximum operating pressure of the system. Information in the specifications of manufacturers such as Upchurch Scientific or IDEX Health & Science.
  3. An example is 1/16" OD tubing used in HPLC, where one uses 10-32 threaded PEEK fittings with at least 6000 psi.
  • Chemical Compatibility
  1. PEEK resist most acids, bases and organic solvents (e.g., methanol, acetonitrile) with the exception of concentrated sulfuric acid or strong oxidizers.
  2. Make sure the fitting material is suitable to your path of fluid As an example, use biocompatibility confirmation on biotech applications, USP Class VI.
  3. Check compatability charts with suppliers such as cole-parmer or vicI in order to prevent degradation of material.
  • Tubing diameter and Size Type
  1. PEEK fittings are made to fit particular sized tubes typically 1/16th or 1/8th inch outer diameter (OD).
  2. Make sure that the thread on the fitting (e.g., 10-32 to 1/16" tubing) fits the port that it is going into. The tubings to be used are PEEK tubing to have a completely inert system or stainless steel to get a higher pressure.
  3. When using tight seals, use PEEK ferrules or one-piece (no-ear) fittings to avoid any leaks.
  • Fitting Type
  1. Fingertight Fittings: These can easily be fitted without tools and suitable where low- to medium-pressures are used (up to 5000 psi).
  2. Hex-Head Fittings: Hex-head fittings require wrench engagement that can be used to generate greater torque, appropriate in high- pressure applications.
  3. Unions, Tees, Crosses: Select depending on the type of connection (i.e. connecting two tubes or dividing flow).
  4. Think of one-piece models and two-piece when it is important to maintain or reuse.
  • Environmental Conditions
  1. PEEK fittings work reliably between -50 and 260 o C. Wide temperature application (e.g.: geothermal, chemical reactors) make sure of the fitting temperature rating.
  2. In vacuum systems, use of PEEK fittings that have low outgassing specifications should be low is used to avoid contamination.
