Thermoplastic resin, melting point 343℃, UL recognized long-term use temperature of 260℃. It maintains high strength at -198℃.

In the high temperature, high pressure, high frequency and high speed, high humidity and other environments still have excellent insulation and stability.

Corrosion resistance

In the usual chemicals that can dissolve or destroy it is only concentrated sulfuric acid, its corrosion resistance is similar to nickel steel.Good radiation resistance Excellent resistance to all kinds of radiation.

A certain thickness of PEEK film has a self-flame retardant, combustion products of low smoke and non-toxic.

Filament Fusion printed parts to achieve improved strength of printed parts and printability compared to PEEK polymer on most machines.
It can be used in high temperature environments as well as chemical infiltration environments, has low outgassing and can be suitable for sterilization.
This print material is not suitable for medical implant applications.

  • PEEK filament temperature
     / Time: 120°C / 5h (residual moisture <0.02%)
  • Extrusion Temperature: 380-400°C (Nozzle)
  • Chamber/Build-Space Temperature: Printing directly semi-crystalline: Above 150°C 
  • Printing amorphous: Below 150°C 
  • Bed Temperature: 20-40°C above chamber temperature, keeping below 150°C for amorphous print
  • Annealing conditions: Slow heating rate (3°C/min ramp rate). 170-180°C, 2-4 hours. Optimization may be required.

Before printing, the PEEK material is baked in an oven at 150°C for 3 hours.

The purpose of baking is to remove moisture from the material, which prevents air bubbles and poor interlayer bonding during printing.

Remove and wait for natural cooling.

Nozzle Diameter

  • Typical Sizes: 0.4mm to 0.6mm
  • Selection Criteria:
  • 4 mm: for higher precision and detail, but longer print times
  • 0.6 mm: Larger prints that need much more strength come with less detail, printing is slower.
  • Pro Tip: Wear resistant nozzle such as these nozzles for wear resistance of tungsten carbide, if you are considering using wear-resistant nozzle in PEEK as such nozzle materialsious are more robust, but more wear resistance.

Optimal Feed Rate: 10-30 mm³/s
Adjustments Based On:

  • Printing Temperature: The higher the temperature, the better so long as it is still within the printer material limitations.
  • Print Speed: Should be tuned relative to print complexity and finish; slower feed rates are best for fine layers and surface finish.
  • Layer Thickness and Fill Density: Thicker layers and higher fill densities necessitate a higher feed rate.
    Note: Start with a lower feed rate and gradually increase to find optimal parameters while ensuring stable extrusion and print quality.

Printing Speed: Recommended 30-50 mm/s, matched with feed rate and temperature to prevent unstable extrusion and poor layer adhesion.
Retraction Settings:

  • Retraction Distance: 1-2 mm
  • Retraction Speed: 20-30 mm/s
  • Note: Due to PEEK's high viscosity, retraction settings need fine-tuning to avoid stringing and clogging.
